What Working With Me Looks Like: Healing Binge Eating, Anxiety & Fatigue From the Inside Out.
Have you ever found yourself constantly snacking, grazing through the pantry, feeling hungry all the time, and craving something crunchy, salty or sweet — even when you’re not really hungry? Or maybe you are hungry. Maybe your constantly ravenous and nothing satisfies you.
Recently, I finished working with a client who came to me for what they suspected was binge eating disorder. Over time, they’d noticed it becoming worse and worse. It hadn’t always been like this — it began during a stressful period a few years earlier, when food became a source of comfort until it was out of control.
This is a story I see all the time, numerous clients suffering with the same dilemma, because we live in a time with lots of stress and free access to food so it is completely natural for this pattern to develop, especial in women who carry the bulk of the mental load.
A Story:
I decided to share this story which is an example of what many clients experience with me, beautifully demonstrating what working with me can look like — a combination of functional nutrition and hypnotherapy that helps you restore at both physical and emotional levels.
Session 1: Nutrition Consultation
We started with an Initial nutrition consultation, exploring what was happening beneath the surface.
With binge or emotional eating, it’s common to find that clients aren’t eating enough of the right foods, leaving their body in a constant state of hunger and cravings. This often links back to blood glucose dysregulation and imbalances in key hormones such as insulin, leptin and ghrelin — the very hormones that control appetite, satiety and metabolism.
When these systems are out of balance, the body can remain “stuck” in a cycle of craving, overeating, and yes, subsequent fatigue.
So, we assessed:
Nutrient deficiencies
Thyroid function and metabolism
Gut health and digestion
Hormonal balance
From there, I created a simple, practical plan designed to stabilise blood sugar, nourish the body and restore metabolic rhythm. We began with the right breakfast for her biochemistry, made small tweaks to lunch and dinner, and kept it realistic — no strict dieting, no overwhelm.
Note: If we find an issue with thyroid, PCOS, perimenopause or gut health, this story would also incorporate individualised treatment to address these conditions also.
Session 2: Nutrition Consult Follow Up -
Understanding Emotional Triggers
At their second session, they had already noticed improvement. The urge to binge had eased, energy had increased quite remarkably — but they realised the deeper issue was emotional eating.
We made a few more dietary adjustments to further support hormone balance and glucose regulation. We started to address anxiety and stress which were bigger problems than we had realised. We introduced gentle lifestyle strategies to support calm during stressful moments and I prescribed a supplement to help with nervous system.
They also decided to book a hypnotherapy session to address the emotional side of their eating — something they had been genuinely curious about, even a little excited.
Sessions 3 - 4: Hypnotherapy
Releasing Stress and Anxiety with Hypnotherapy
By session 3, they reported less anxiety, more calm, and fewer cravings. This was due to the dietary changes we made, but we realised stress and anxiety had become a pattern of circular thinking and belief systems so we began working using hypnotherapy and NLP.
In the first hypnotherapy session, we explore your triggers and motivators — when you reach for food, what feelings are you trying to soothe? What kind of comfort has food come to represent?
Together, we work on releasing the pattern of using food for comfort and calming the underlying anxiety driving the behaviour.
Interestingly, blood glucose instability can also drive anxiety. When blood sugar drops too low, the brain perceives it as a threat, triggering a surge of adrenaline and cortisol — the same hormones involved in the body’s stress response. Over time, this can create a feedback loop of fatigue, anxiety, and disrupted sleep.
Sessions 4-5:
Restoring Restful Sleep
By the 4th session, my client reported the comfort eating had completely resolved, and her anxiety was about 80% improved.
With emotional eating and anxiety now under control, our next focus was sleep. This client often woke through the night, finding it hard to drift back to sleep, laying awake for sometimes hours and waking up exhausted.
Using hypnosis, I introduced suggestions for deep, restorative sleep, and waking refreshed. We continued building on their nutritional foundation to support neurotransmitters for relaxation and recovery.
Studies have shown that poor sleep itself can increase hunger — studies show that even one night of sleep deprivation can raise the hormone Ghrelin (the hunger hormone) and lower leptin (the fullness hormone), driving stronger cravings for sugar and processed foods the next day.
By their 5th and final session, they reported:
No more binge or comfort eating - Was able to enjoy an icecream on the weekend with friends because they chose to and could enjoy it thoroughly. And thats what we want, to be able to enjoy an occasional treat but feel completely in control to choose to or not to.
Anxiety significantly reduced
Sleeping deeply, and when they did wake, they felt they could easily return to sleep
So we finished with really anchoring in the changes we had made and building confidence and momentum to continue on improving overall health and wellbeing.
The Transformation
By the end of five sessions, this client had gone from struggling with binge eating, anxiety and insomnia resulting in fatigue — to feeling calm, nourished, and well-rested. Not to mention energy!
They told me they were blown away by how effective hypnotherapy was.
I reminded them that it wasn't just hypnotherapy. Making the dietary changes drastically improved their hunger/cravings and nourishing their body was needed for energy and for making neurotransmitters needed for calming and sleep optimisation, BUT the hypnotherapy just accelerated the process. Using food as medicine combined with the power of the mind is a game changer.
The body and mind are always in conversation.
When blood sugar is unstable, anxiety and sleep disruption increase.
When sleep is poor, hunger hormones rise and emotional control decreases.
When emotions are unprocessed, food often becomes the soothing tool.
By addressing all three together — nutrition, hormones, and subconscious patterns — we create a sustainable state of calm, balance, and wellbeing.
When You Work With Me
Every client’s journey is unique, but the process often includes:
Functional nutrition to address imbalances in hormones, gut health, and energy
Simple, practical food plans to balance blood sugar and reduce cravings
Hypnotherapy to release emotional triggers, anxiety, and old habits

It’s a holistic, evidence-based approach that heals from the inside out.
